I know that this is not a map site. But I must ask the dod pros! I have resgen but I do not know the comand line to put in to create res files. does any know?

there is no command. you simple take the .bsp file and drag it onto the ResGen icon and it'll generate it

HOLY HELL !!... this is horribly untrue ... there are MANY flags that can be used with RESGEN ... and creating a batch file is by far the best way to go to get what you want done ...
dragging the map onto the exe is just a simple way of using the default settings on one map... what would you do if you had 800+, drag them on one by one? what would you do if you had 800+ maps but had some done already but you want to overwrite those existing res files ? What if you wanted to verify the files actually existed on your pc ?? All of these scenarios are possible through the use of the command line...

-d [folder] Process entire folder
-r [folder] Same as -d, but processes subfolders too
-f [map] Process this map
[map] Same as -f
-x [map] Exclude map from res file generation (use with -d or -r)
-o Overwrite existing res files
-a [rfafile] Adds the rfa file to generated res files
-l Convert res entries to lowercase
-m Match the file case with the resources on disk (use with -e)
-e [modpath] Check for resource existance
-p Do not check for resource existance in pakfiles
-u Parse WAD and MDL files for external textures (use with -e)
-b [rfafile] Excludes resources from [rfafile] from generated res files.
-k RESGen will not wait for a keypress to exit in verbal mode

resgen -f boot_camp -d . -r ../mappack -e hlds_l/cstrike

if u got 800+ maps all u do is highlight all and drag all onto exe and it'll create 800 of them at one time
im not saying tats is wrong but thats how i always done it and it has never failed me.

I agree you CAN drop all 800 onto the exe file itself... IF you want the default settings.. but there are options... thats all I am getting at...

my issue is the path when I do the copy short cut and go into properties.

Copy the RESGen.exe, paste it into your map folder with the .bsp, drag the bsp into it, then delete the RESGen.exe copy.
