Ok this is in response to the thread here:

Its is only in it infancy, was bored and thought I would give it a go. It will need work. So, I first off need it tested as I cant do this at work, and dont usually have time at home. Please let me know first off who is testing it, and give the feedback in this thread!

CVARS? Binds? ANYTHING!?
At the moment no. And it will overide the standard talking. There is only 1 cvar at the moment, and 2 commands:
// CVAR - It is already enabled no need to worry about it
dod_squadtalk_enable 1
// Commands
dod_joinsquad <squad number> - Join a squad (must be a member of a team)
dod_listsquads - List squads and their members
Thats it so far, again this is totally untested, I need it tested and output on it would be nice.

im in ill give you a shout out on the results
Basically what this does is somewhat like BF 2 where you have to join a squad to be able to talk to others on the server. Now there is alot of work to be done on it, I want to have it display in a menu eventually and allow ppl to create squads with squad names, as well as have it so that you can talk normally when your not in a squad. However at the moment you have to join a squad to talk. You can have up to 16 ppl in one squad, this will have to change because if the teams are unbalanced on a 32 man server then it could crash the system. Again all good, it will eventually get repaired.

Heres my question. Say a guy from axis joins squad 1 and a guy from allies joins squad 1, can they hear each other? If so this plugin wouldnt be a realism plugin??

Nope, haven't heard any details of if its working bugs etc.

The Squads are also based on teams, so team axis squad 1, team allies squad 1

Ya i figured that out. You have to have all talk off. There are no bugs that i have found or seen. Also is there a way to make it so an admin that has a certain level can talk to all the squads with out joining them. Like an HQ section?
That would be in the works...now that I know that its working, I will have to update it once I get some time so that it will allow people to hear global team talk or disable it and have a team commander who can talk to all squads, with also a squad commander who can talk to the other squads and the team commander. Once I get these features in I will be putting into it a menu so it will be kinda like BF2. But I wanted to do the job right and then modify the results.

Is there any update to this plugin. I just thought i would check. I did find 1 bug though. 3 of us were in squad 1, and when i typed dod_listsquads, it only showed 2 people being in there...
Ok, let me guess it didn't show you? Will look into it today if I have time...work and all!

no it showed me. and then after he died like 4 times it showed him.... Idk. Ill mess with it. When i disabled it and turned it back on it worked... so Idk. it might just have been it couldnt read his name or something.

I'm no longer running a server but this is interesting - a question though about your method here:

as a way to prevent possible bugs - wouldn't it be better to have this as an or condition? so that people on the same team and not same squad can't talk? or am i misunderstanding the intention...
perhaps it would be possible to instead create a new user command similar to say_team so that talk between squads and teams is still possible with this plugin running, i.e. for teams to say "live" or for squads to coordinate an attack, etc.

its ment so there are 3 (Example) sqauds on each team. You have to join a squad to talk, but say your doing a realism, everyone joins squad 1 to get everything ready, and then say squad 3 is going water on sturm, the people that are going water join squad 3. Its ment to cut back on the caos on the mics. If zor gets what he wants to work it will be the sweetest plugin.

No i cant wait. lol. Im really excited about this plugin.
I'm sorry but you will have to wait! :) Too busy getting the piss pounded outa me on my Warrant Officer course. 5 days in the woods, 5 platoon attacks per day, and 1 fighting patrol at night, total sleep, 15 hours. Priceless! Hehehe...NOT! Honest will get back to it soonest.

Its all good Zor. Just wondering. Sorry if i bugged you.
Not in the least, if I am too busy I just dont reply until I have time. Such as this weekend, not that I have time for the plugin, just time for answer. 1 week left, so lets see, 4 days in woods, mon-thurs, so thats 3 nights, so I would say about 6-8 hours sleep. Hehehe...thats how busy! But next weekend I will have to look at all the stuff that has been going on and think about reworking dodx again. Haven't as of yet due to no time.
