Dedicated Server

Anyone here have any experience in setting up a dedicated server? If you do, would you be so kind to help me? I really want to set up this server. I'm tried 3 times and I'm on my 4th. I need like a step by step walkthrough. If there is one somewhere I would like to have it. Thanks.

on windows.. all you have to do basically is download the HLDS standalone (better then the one in steam imo) and click start server

Here, try this site link (http://www.techie.net.nz/howto/dod.html). Although the links don't work anymore, the tutorial is pretty handy. It helped me setting up a server from home when I was (and still am) a nooby with servers.
