Introduction

With the launch of Weapons Mod 2.0 by Toolz, Syn's Weapons Mod 1.5 and basicly the ability for server admins to provide the players with weapons laying around on the map there is a small issue.

Since the sides are either Allies vs Axis or British vs Axis there was never a chance of an Allied soldier using a British weapon. So what happens when someone uses one of the above stated options...well, basicly mutilation.

When an Allied player picks up a British weapon he will notice his entire arm is missing :D

I received these files years a go on the IVXX community by a community member but someone may strike me down with a thunderbolt but I have no idea what his name was....so credit goes to him.

Download
Download here (http://social.clanservers.com/tutorials/models/british/fixedbritmodels.zip) a zip file containing the 5 v_models to fix the guns for Allied players.

Installing
Unzip the file to your desktop. Open your dod folder (located by default: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\your steamname\day of defeat\dod). Now locate your models folder* and open it.

*Most people have a models folder in their dod folder. Not everyone, the people who dont have a folder called models in their dod folder will have to create it. Click with your right mousebutton on an empty spot in your dod folder. Select 'new' => 'folder' and call it: models

Now make sure you keep your dod folder window open, go to your desktop (shortcut in XP (perhaps Vista) is 'windowskey'+'m') and open your unzipped file called modelswithoutanimation. Select the twelve files by dragging a square around them by pressing your left mousebutton:
- v_bren.mdl
- v_enfield.mdl
- v_enfield_scoped.mdl
- v_piat.mdl
- v_sten.mdl
And copy them. shortcut key: CTRL+C. Click on your dod/sprites folder on the taskbar and paste it in there shotcute key: CTRL+V.

Check if the 5 files are present in your models folder (C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\your steamname\day of defeat\dod\models). If so, you have successfully installed the models with arms :D

No screenshots provided as the models are exactly as the default models.

I believe it was Ez With the Hardware, that made a modified allied player model, with the brit sleeve added to it.

Im not sure what you mean with this. The thing is, sleeves are part of the weapon models, not the player models.

And I believe the person who created this just decompiled the weapon models using HLmodel viewer, added the allied sleeves to the british weapon models by adding it to the qc file and compiling it back.

but then again, im not sure :D

Not sure how he did it, but I don't think he had to make it for all the classes, although you are probably right.

Ez's site is gone now so I can't show you the model, I looked everywhere for it, think it had some thing to do with the sub models but I am probably wrong. Any way nice find.

Damn, if I knew that fellow had a site I would love to see it once. I have a lot of his custom models which I used for either a plugin or for my client models.

He's also very known for the avalanche WAD's and Sky's he made. Skillfull modeler.

About the sleeves and stuff...I might be wrong as well. What I described was the only way how I know how to changes sleeves and hand/gloves textures. There may be an even way easier way....Im not known for taking the easiest ride :D

I noticed this too. I figured that maybe since I was on a british map that the v_models for allied weapons were not precached (total assumption there). So, I precached the v_model (which have sleeves) and it didn't help.

Any Ideas?

Uhm, my first post contains a download, download it and place it in your client dod folder or use a plugin to allow players to use it as well

Oh sorry,

Well I have no time as im about to go clubbing but you can decompile the model using hlmv Jeds 1.36, if the sleeves aint added you need to add them and Im not sure either you can compile and it works like that or you need to add these sleeves to the *.qc file.

Tomorrow Ill check it out for you. Sorry for misunderstanding
