I connected to a server, downloaded the bsp file, and the map changed while downloading. Later I started it up locally on my machine to check it out, and it ran fine. The funny thing is, if you view the map in bspedit, it calls for 4-5 wad files and one of the wad files I don't have on my computer, nor is there a .res file for the map. Yet, it runs fine, I get no errors about a missing wad file, and I've seen no missing textures.

My guess is, that whoever created the map, didn't actually use any textures from that particular wad file (it was only listed in their setup for VHE), and so it runs because the map doesn't actually refer to that wad to load any textures.

Would this mean that it would run fine on our server as well without the wad file?

i would assume so.. as i was under the impression that if it couldnt find textures it needed (because the wad file was missing) that the map wouldnt even start and you'd get a missing wad file error on the server

what wad file is it anyway?

According to BSPEdit it is "all_in_one.wad". I tried to google the file, but was unable to find it.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if you would get the wad file error because you needed the texture, or simply because the .bsp referred to the wad file.
