DESCRIPTION
The long awaited voice proximity plugin is finally released. This plugin forces voice communication only to players within a certain radius of the speaker, which makes it so you cannot communicate to players accross the map; but rather within "speaking range," which is a distance defined in a cvar. This also allows communication between teams if the players are within proximity.
This plugin has been tested in realism-based scrimmages and has proven to change the gameplay entirely. It really makes you depend on individual squad leadership, and takes the game to the next level. I don't know of any other game that has a feature like this.
Try this plugin in a scrimmage - you'll love it.
I must give credit to Twilight Suzuka as she originally came up with the idea but could not get it working.
USAGE
amx_voiceprox <1/0>
Enables or Disables the plugin
amx_voiceprox_distance #
Defines how far away you can be from a player to hear them speaking (Default 1300)

well he has it defualt at 1300.. so i would guess 1300 might be a good number :P

Yes just leave that out of your amxx.cfg if you want to go with default - it's normally set to 1300 which is a good distance.
Ok cool, I had actually set it at 100 and no one could hear me.
Second question. IF I were to turn alltalk on will I still have to be within this range to speak to my enemy? If so... COOOL!

Yes - leave all talk off though. If it's on, the dead can talk to alive and you'll see the flashing of the enemy team (will be less buggy with it off)

I can't get it to work, it says the plugin is working fine but when I type in amx_voiceprox into the console it says "Uknown Command". What should I do?

amx_cvar amx_voiceprox
And then 1 or 0 after it to set it on or off.

Stop spamming. Read the AMXX manual on installing plugins. You can adjust voice proximity live in game
amx_cvar amx_voiceprox 1

The plugin doesn't work on our server. It loads fine and shows it's running but you can't use the amx_voiceprox 1/0 command. Say's all the commands are unknown. So the plugin doens't actually work. Is there something i'm doing wrong?
Wilson [29th ID]
04-22-2007, 01:25 AM
Yes. There is.
When you type amx_plugins in console, it shows up and says it's running?
Also...something's telling me your using amx_voiceprox as a client command rather than a CVAR.
Make sure you use the following syntax in your console:
amx_cvar amx_voiceprox 1
NOT just: amx_voiceprox 1

two questions..
i am interested in this plugin and the teamtalk plugin that is otu there.. and I was wondering do they work together.. and how do they work together.. like if alltalk is off.. and u use the teamchat button. .everyone on ur team would hear you.. and then if u use the regualr all chat button.. only people wihtin the 1300 radius would hear you??
if someone could explain this.. i'd be very grateful.
im in a realism unit and I want this plugin to i can talk to some people wihtout disturbing others doing drills.. yet still dont want people on the other side of the map screwing around and I wont be able to tell them to stop.. ya know?
I dont think that they will work together. You would have to cobble them together and then setup a cvar that would let you set which version you want to use. The TeamTalk one can be used even if you are dead. Its kinda like using ventrilo or some such. So it overides the actual team chat all talk from HL. If both are on the server whichever one is first in the plugins.ini would get precedence.
Cheers!
Might want to check the text placed in bold.
AMX TeamTalk
I wrote this plugin today for my server but figured you would all enjoy it as well. My server always has AllTalk on during public play, but sometimes people want to use teamwork. Teamwork + AllTalk = the enemy hearing your plans.
Now there is a bind for teamtalk. Basically, it's like turning alltalk off just for a second while you transmit your message.
bind KEY +teamtalk
Holding this button will transmit your voice to your team only.
The only cvar is amx_teamtalk <0/1>
This plugin is compatible with AMX VoiceProx (if voiceprox is enabled, this plugin is disabled).

Why does it say it IS compatible with it... if it says it will be disabled if the other one is enabled??
Thats like opposites
LOL, I see your point :D. Basicly I think Wilson meant to say you can use both plugins besides each other on the server but one will rule out the other? Im not sure, I just use the teamtalk which works perfectly.
Since the author is somewhat MIA you might just want to give this a go and see what the outcome is. If you need a test server hit me up and I can test it for you (you just provide a few people for testing) if you don't want to bother your main server.

Hi hows it going, the unit that i am with has downloaded this plugin and it seems to not work. I turn alltalk off as to what Wilson said and then i put in the distance and the amx_cvar amx_voiceprox 1 and they all activate but yet still don't work. Like the enemy would be close to me and they still can't hear me and i have one of my own team members on the otherside of the map and i still can talk to him, anyone know what the problem is possibly?.

MFD.. I have no clue..
and returning to my question...
I installed both... and then 1 worked.. and then the other worked.. wihtout me changing anyhting.. then when I disable one to get the other to work. .neither work.. same when i disable the other one.. neither work..
so idk.. im going to completely remove one.. and just use the other..
