We had a spamer problem a while ago, ppl where posting adds

Now that I can post replies here I want to send a HUGE thank-you to Zor for doing whatever you did to rid the forum of those ass-hat spammers. It worked and works very well... I can remember coming to forum everyday and finding atleast ONE post that was utterly ridiculous, and while it was an excellent testament to how popular and far reaching the forum is, it was quite annoying and in some cases disgusting !!

Thanx so much Zor for fixing that issue, and sorry it took so long to acknowledge this fact !! If noone else is, I am very very greatful for what you did to rid us of them spammers...

Yes Thank you very much for that. I remember seeing them posts the whole time...Sometimes alot of them and other days just one or 2 but it was a disgrace. Thanks very much Zor

what did you do? Im having the same problem so I added my pubbers to a list and those not on it cant post. Is there another way another then filtering out each user?

but oddly enough.. when looking in the admin cp, it seems to be off...but anyway i think there was a problem at 1st where it was blocking alot of posts that were legit.. but a way around that is to create a new usergroup for just normal registered members and set it up so that when a registered user makes like 5 posts or something like that.. they get moved to the new group.. and the akismet filter is only on for the registered user group.. so once they make 5 posts (after that, they likely arent spammers) they get moved to the new group automatically that doesnt have the filter active.. hmm maybe that sounds confusing
