View Full Version : Maps problems
I want my server to run custom maps only after i deleted all the normal maps that comes with DoD from the maps.ini, i restarted the server but it always begins with dod_anzio, i placed a few normal maps in the mapcycle and maplist, maps like anzio, avalanche and kalt just for scrims. Does anyone knows how can i make it not to start with anzio? :D
add this in your command line:
+map dod_avalanche

with gameservers you need to log in to your cpanel, make a support ticket, and ask them to add that command above to your servers startup command line.
+map name_of_map
they dont allow shell access without a dedicated package, however, their support system takes moments to get a reply.
ok guys thx im gonna go try it

If you want your server to start with avalanche or whatever map add the below in your server.cfg. Change the map name to whatever you want it to load on of course.
map dod_avalanche

i found putting it in the server.cfg can be bad on some occasions...
like i would have the map changing to something else.. and the server.cfg would get read (oddly enough only now and then lol) and switch it to avalanche instead of whatever map it was going to..
but ya putting in a support ticket to GS is what i did for mine...
*on a side note.. ticket response might be fast tonight lol.. i put in a ticket to have my ftp rebooted, and i got a reply (and the ftp rebooted) within 2 minutes lol

Jesus thats not GS...lol
I think that the autoexec.cfg is only called the first time the server starts up. So if you put the map into the autoexec.cfg you should be good go! Maybe!
Cheers!
Thx Zor ill try that since gameservers told me they cant change the command line.

I asked them earlier and they changed it for me...

Could anyone change the map for the server command line to mario_air please?
I was told that if I ask for the change ye could possibly change it for me then

What bots are you using? Make sure you have installed them correctly and also have entered the correct information

When I first installed shrikebot I did it based off the instructions someone had posted on the gameservers.com forum and it worked perfectly. I put the link below if you wanna give it a shot. Let me know how it goes.

Hey one question does your server go down and restart every now and then because of the bots?

I have rarely seen it reboot by itself during the night but can't say if it is because of the bots though, but I guess it could be a possibility.

I'll have to try it out again for myself... thanks for the info tho
That happened to me the server restart everytime after it changed map, i had to ask gameservers to reinstall.
Hey box i reinstalled server again since i thought that erasing the reg maps makes my server to restart itself and im trying instalk shrikebots again in the linux server but it wont work ive tried several times but nothing, any ideas?

You sure that you made/or have a file in metamod folder named.... config.ini and included this line in it?
gamedll dlls/shrikebot_i386.so
and make sure you have the file: shrikebot_i386.so in your dod/dll folder.
That should get them up and running for you after a restart.
BTW if the bots are crashing your server... somethings not right. They never crash mine. The only time it does is when I dont have all the files for a map or plugin or... when I have screwed a cfg up somewhere.
yeah i did the config.ini file and no, bot arent crashing my server it crashed because i deleted something i thought it wasnt important but it was, a cfg that was connected to a custom map i installed.
Did you make sure that in your liblist.gam that the reference to shrikebot is removed?
Also are you with Gameservers or another server company or running your own?
Which reference in the liblist.gam? Can u post the text exact as u got it in ur liblist and explain me where the reference is and what do u change:)
//gamedll "dlls\dod.dll"
//gamedll_linux "dlls/shrikebot_i386.so"
gamedll "addons\metamod\dlls\metamod.dll"
gamedll_linux "addons/metamod/dlls/metamod_i386.so"
These are the lines I am referring to.
You see how shrikebot had a line in there that had to be commented out?
You need to make sure you either take that line out or comment it out. This will cause the bots to not load at all or malfunction.
You need to load metamod and let metamod load shrikebot.
The way it would happen without the line being commented out is that it would try to load both of these and fail... only loading metamod and being conflicted with the shrikebots. At least that is my understanding of what happens.
Failed on mine right up until I made sure that the lines were commented out.
Let me know what you get from here. I will help as much as I can.
One thing u say there is a metamod.dll but i just got metamod_i386.so, is there anyway i can get the metamod.dll...................nvm i just made gameservers do it ^^ thx anyway tegu
....seems that gameservers didnt do anything ill try again with what u say tegu, by the way if i do what u say will the server still run amxmodx
you dont want the dll... that is if you were running a windows server... we run a linux server ;)
....seems that gameservers didnt do anything ill try again with what u say tegu, by the way if i do what u say will the server still run amxmodx
Yeah the server will run amxmodx.
We make a reference in liblist.gam to load metamod. Then we make a reference in metamod that loads amxmodx and shrikebot.
Easy but frustrating.
ok then i just got the metamod_i386.so, but when i try to run it changing the reference in liblist.gam metamod doesnt run and server too. Ive done what the post at gameservers says but i cant make metamod run, right now im running the server directly from the shrikebot_i386.so just to load bots.
One thing since we are running linux and i only got the metamod_i386.so wouldnt the reference be:
//gamedll "dlls\dod.dll"
//gamedll_linux "dlls/shrikebot_i386.so"
gamedll "addons\metamod\dlls\metamod_i386.so"
gamedll_linux "addons/metamod/dlls/metamod_i386.so"
instead of:
//gamedll "dlls\dod.dll"
//gamedll_linux "dlls/shrikebot_i386.so"
gamedll "addons\metamod\dlls\metamod.dll"
gamedll_linux "addons/metamod/dlls/metamod_i386.so"

gamedll "addons\metamod\dlls\metamod.dll"
gamedll_linux "addons/metamod/dlls/metamod_i386.so"
ok, since you only have .so files then you server is a LINUX server and .dlls are useless to you, and most game server providers are not even going to let you upload .dlls when you have a LINUX and vice-versa (most, not all prevent this)
Your liblist.gam needs be as follows....
//gamedll "addons\metamod\dlls\metamod.dll"
gamedll_linux "addons/metamod/dlls/metamod_i386.so"
the only thing YOU need to worry about is the string contained in gamedll_linux, the other gamedll is for a WINDOWS server setup (which you do not have)
NOW, once you have your liblist.gam file reflecting the line I showed you, you NEED to go into addons/metamod folder and add a line to the plugins.ini to load amxmodx and shrikebot (mind you I never used shrikebot so install instructions might be actually be different, but if I had to assume...)
Your addons/metamod/plugins.ini should contain this:
;; Metamod plugins.ini
; AMX Mod X 1.76
linux addons/amxmodx/dlls/amxmodx_mm_i386.so
; Shrikebot call
linux dlls/shrikebot_i386.so
again, I have never used Shrikebot, but back when I DID use sturmbots, this was a method used to run bots and amxmodx without having to have the bots load through a command line... PM a copy of Shrikebot install instructions and I will read through and make sure what I posted is actually valid...
Final suggestion, once you have finished editing liblist.gam and are satisfied that all is working... set the read-only attribute on the linlist.gam file so a future STEAM update does not erase its contents and put back the default settings !!
Very close on the metamod lines, let me try to do this one better:
in your folder: metamod look for plugins.ini it should read:
linux addons/amxmodx/dlls/amxmodx_mm_i386.so
In your metamod folder look for config.ini or make this file
then it should have ONLY this line:
gamedll dlls/shrikebot_i386.so

12-26-2006, 06:37 PM
gamedll dlls/shrikebot_i386.so
Should that not be gamedll_linux dlls/shrikebot_i386.so ?
So should it be gamedll ..... or gamedll_linux?

i run mine by putting:
localinfo mm_gamedll dlls/shrikebot_i386.soin my autoconfig.cfg in my main dod directory
well i guess ill try what D-O did cause its easier ^^ thx guys
Should that not be gamedll_linux dlls/shrikebot_i386.so ?
No I think that it would be as I wrote...
At least that is a direct copy from my server and it works wonderfully. ;)
Nice, diamond thing worked but now amxx aint working xD, actually never worked since i touch the liblist for using metamod and metamod doesnt want to work
Nice, diamond thing worked but now amxx aint working xD, actually never worked since i touch the liblist for using metamod and metamod doesnt want to work
delete the text in yours and replace with this:
game "Day of Defeat"
url_info "http://www.dayofdefeat.net"
url_dl ""
version "1.3"
size "5"
svonly "0"
cldll "1"
secure "1"
hlversion "1110"
type "multiplayer_only"
nomodels "1"
nohimodel "1"
mpentity "info_player_allies"
gamedll "addons\metamod\dlls\metamod.dll"
gamedll_linux "addons/metamod/dlls/metamod_i386.so"
Then.... get rid of your metamod.dll (the actual file itself)... you are conflicting your LINUX server.
that will make it work... ;)
well....actually i did that and i was wrong what optic post isnt working dont know why i cant found a autoconfig.cfg only the autoexec.cfg, if thats the one then it dont work and for what u say tegu i dont know why but metamod dont load on the server, i dont know why and it was running with metamod when it was installed. When i change the liblist.gam to what u say it dont run the server keeps down, of course i restarted it xD. So still nothing im gonna reinstall tonight and see what happen. And i dont got any metamod.dll file in my addons/metamod/dlls folder, the only file in there is metamod_i386.so, so it should work but no, nothing happen.

you have to create the autoconfig.cfg yourself...
as for metamod/amxx....
i left them installed the normal way.. as if you werent installing bots... then just added that line to the autoconfig and now i have both metamod & shrikebot
Well nvm we just made GS make a full install with metamod, amxx, shrikebot, stats...Thx for your help guys.

That's cool if you got GS to install bots for you, usually they don't.
I realize this isn't a thing everyone can do, but I have a script that rotates my starting maps for me. It is my shutdown script as I only run the server on Friday and Saturday nights and I have it on cron to shut down at 6:00 the following morning. The script takes the first map in my mapcycle.txt, moves it to the bottom of the order and prints that map name to a file. My startup script then reads that map name from the file the next time I start that mod. Hey presto, rotated maps! I run eight different mods, and half of them still run Admin Mod, and the shutdown script also copies the contents of the mapcycle.txt to the maps.ini file for Admin Mod, and for both servers that run Admin Mod and those that run AMX Mod X, I use Blatt Map, or Deagle's AMXX equivalent, and the script clears the last maps played file as well so that starts out clean with every new game night.
It's all pretty simple stuff, but I'm a coding and Linux nOOb, so getting it all working made me pretty happy... :)
