DESCRIPTION
Upon death, if a player has a grenade, it will drop on the ground like his weapon,
for someone else to pick up. Also features the ability to drop a grenade by pressing
the "drop" key while alive, for someone else to pick up.
FEATURES
-If you pick up an enemy grenade, you actually get the enemy grenade (not another one of your team's)
-Specify whether the user must hold USE key to pick up grenade (more realistic).
-Adjust the time the grenades stay on the ground. Default is the same as the time weapons stay.
-Enable or Disable dropping grenades while alive
-Automatically compatible with Zor's Smoke Grenade Plugin
-Specify whether a grenade model is dropped or an "Ammo Box" model
-Enable or Disable effects on the dropped grenade to make it more visible (2 types)
-Control Maximum amount of grenades able to be picked up
CVARS
dod_dropgrenades2 <0/1>
Enable or Disable the plugin
dod_dropgrenades2_fx <0/1/2>
0 is no effects, 1 is firefly effects, 2 is green glow
dod_dropgrenades2_mdl <1/2>
1 is regular grenade model, 2 is ammo box
dod_dropgrenades2_stay <#>
How long dropped grenades stay on the ground. 21 is default, which is how long
weapons stay on the ground.
dod_dropgrenades2_use <0/1>
1 forces client to press USE key to pick up grenade
dod_dropgrenades2_max <#>
How many grenades can be held in total
dod_dropgrenades2_drop <0/1>
Setting to 1 (default) allows players to drop their grenades while alive,
by pressing the drop key
DISCLAIMER
This plugin does not make you better at throwing grenades.
If you are a noob at throwing grenades, it is best not to throw them.

Nice disclaimer Wilson :P I'm installing this right now :) Also nice features... I'm gonna love this one -Specify whether the user must hold USE key to pick up grenade (more realistic). Laugh at everyone running over the nades and wonder why it wasn't picked up :P
EDIT: I got these errors when compiling on the Amx Mod X site.....

EDIT 2: I tried it out just there and I can't actually throw nades and when you die you don't drop the nades... Also I can drop the nades but I have infinite nades after I drop one... I've got 2 screenshots of it if you want to se them... I'll post them up if you want to see them... Also I love the dropping of the nades... Very nice touch

I get the same issues that SR} *Raggy* has when I tried this plugin out....great job thou and definetly a great idea on dropping your nades. Look foward seeing this plugin updated, will be great.

{SR} *Raggy*, you are getting those two errors because those compilers do not have the latest version of dodconst.inc
Go to that line, 406, and replace AMMO_GREN with 9
Then it will compile fine. And tell that compiler to get with the times.
jason, I don't know how you could possibly get a CVAR pointer error..I just compiled based on the above instructions at dodplugins compiler and amxx compiler and it worked fine.
As far as it not working on a linux box, the reason you get so many nades is because of it not updating the ammo based on the problem I just solved two paragraphs up. Try it again and I'm sure it will work. There's no pdata in this plugin so I don't see why it wouldn't work on a linux box.

Nice finally out, but needs abit more work on it.
If you drop a nade by pressing drop key it will drop and then u will have unlimited nades that you cant trow.
You cant pick up nades, enemies or teamates or urs.

See, that doesn't happen for me at all. Anwari are you running a linux box? Perhaps that is the source of the problem after all.

its a linux server, so its not going to work for me? :(
The plugin works fine, it runs but it just doesnt let you pick up nades.

Ah I tried the one after all the above posts and now I'm getting people killing teammates yet FF is off on my server... And it doesn't leave the nades down on the ground when you die :P
Also did you upload a new version of this? Cause I'm pretty sure it was the same version as yesterday... I thought you uploaded a new one cause of this...
As far as it not working on a linux box, the reason you get so many nades is because of it not updating the ammo based on the problem I just solved two paragraphs up. Try it again and I'm sure it will work. There's no pdata in this plugin so I don't see why it wouldn't work on a linux box.

i have to say..
using the AMMO_GREN const is quite sloppy :P forcing ppl to either download the unofficial file or edit the code themselves for it to work shouldnt be required......
you should just add a #define for it till the new dodconst file is released with amxx...

I have seen this working on a french linux server and the axis had axis nades and the british had british nades and so on and so forth but i have searched far and wide for this on a linux server and cant find a single thing can anyone tell meif this one will be fixed eventually

Hes saying replace AMMO_GREN with the number 9 then compile it.
Also any feed back as to why noone can pickup nades on my servers and we get those errors everytime someone walks over a nade?

well it seems they might all have to do with the cvar for whether or not smoke grenades are on...
which might cause a problem when getting the cvar pointer if you dont have the smoke nade plugin running..
not really sure.. have to wait for wilson to comment on it i guess :-)

when you go and use if statements on the stocks... seems like its totally unneccesary.. when you could just call the get_pcvar_num in the if statement...
just seems like extra stuff for the same result...

If this is happen and you have that plugin enabled. Move this plugin below that smoke grenade plugin in the plugins.ini list.

I don't use the smokegrenade plugin. I just tried the cvar setting at both options for testing.

I put it in the server but i cant pick up the nades,and only axis drop there nades.

Ok i tried this plugin just now and i got nothing at all the plugin was running but non of the cvars worked and no one droped grenades if you hear any more about this plugin dont hesitate to contact me for testing im happy to help.

The old plugin (http://www.dodplugins.net/forums/showthread.php?t=27) still works. So you could just use that one until the bugs are out of this one.
I also noticed that it will only drop 1 nade, even if the player is carrying 2. Is this by design or an oversight?

I had this version originaly and had loads of problems you might want to try the version i posted in request for plugins it didnt work for me as im linux but it maby will work for you the guy who gave it to me said it needed 6 lines of code changing i cant code so there for i posted it here to see if anyone could fix it he didnt say what the code was like but maby someone could do it.

HAHA, or imagine on my server, where I give Rifleman/Grenadier 5 grenades each !!
but hey, instead of dropping multiple nades, why not "store" the "amount" inside of the entity (or a 2D array), leaving just the one nade to show, but as you pick it up, you "get" the number of nades "stored"

man imagine people with 5 nades, a 32 slot server on dod_orange (#1 voted map on our server), my god it would be massacre. AND still have the ability to pick up more nades lol

ok so i currently installed the dropgernades2,and it dident work,only axis drop nades and u cant even pick them up.
So this one u putting here anwari works?,the u say is currently beeing worked on?.I mean iam not even sure what program my server is runnig,but out of all i read it should be linux.
because iam having problems with it,so
the bugs for me are
if u drop a nade u get unlimited nades and cant throw your own nades no more.
only axis drop there nades
and,u cant even pick any nades that drop at all....
so hophully that helps.

I got rid of the server errors shown in post #24 and am now able to pickup nades by changing the line :
g_cvarSmoke = get_cvar_pointer( "dod_smokegrenades" );
to
g_cvarSmoke = register_cvar( "dod_smokegrenades", "0" );
However, the nade counts are erratic. Sometimes I throw 1 and it decrements 2. Or if I 'drop' one, it doesn't appear, but decrements to 0. Then if I pick 1 up, i get credited 2 nades. And one time I ended up with 3 sticks and 4 handgrenades. So its getting closer.

so for sure its that if u use linux thats why its not working?.
ive been to other dod servers where i see it working fine!,they drop nades both sides and u can pick them up and what not,i wish it worked on my server.
i guess i have linux server ohh well,hophully u guys get it working good luck

well, without looking at the code or trying it out personally, I do think I know what the issue is... and I have had trouble with it myself until I "fixed" it...
The trouble is the "touch" and the fact that it occurs ALOT for what your brain easily thinks is ONE instance... to the engine is anywhere from 3+
A boolean flag needs to be utilized to allow a section of code to run ONCE with some sort of delay routine ... so then you pretty much have something along these lines...

with the touch thing.. i ran into that problem when i was writing DoD Tackle..
i did something like:
//global variable:
new Float:hitTime[33]
//..then in the touch function after a bunch of checks:
if(get_gametime() > hitTime[id])
{
.....yada yada
hitTime[id] = get_gametime() + 1.0
..yada yada
so basically thats allowing it to only be called once every second..
which works well enough to stop each 'tackle' from counting as 5 or 6 tackles lol..

Vet, that code is right.
MAX_DEFAULT is 3 -- the max nades that can be given to a client in dod based on the message WeaponList.
If the client has less than 3 you can just give_item() and it will give him the nade, update his hud, and make the pickup sound.
If client has 3 or more, you have to do it manually by updating his hud and pdata (dod_set_user_ammo does that, along with AmmoX) and make the pickup sound yourself.

Oh OK, you're saying the give_item function itself will make the HUD update and play the pickup sound, right?
I'm still trying to figure out why I have the problem I mentioned in post #26 (http://www.dodplugins.net/forums/showpost.php?p=5087&postcount=26) (line 1)

u guys are trying to make this work for linux right?... cuz my server is linux,yet i have a old friend of mine that has linux server and the nadedrops works.he said something about make sure u get the right version of dropnades,to match your amxmodx version,i think.something about there is so much droopnades out there.
is there more versions older ones that may work?.
or is there somewhere esle they may have this plug in?

This plugin i get a problem with on a windows server. Similar problem to everyone else's It's not allowing us to pick up any nades. But the fact that they are not glowing all the time on a server reboot, is nice. The old one did that no matter what setting you had it on. Looking for a version of this plugin that works.

Supposedly it is fixed and working, by teame06.
Now, it doesn't have every feature my original version has, but the differences aren't as big (ie. if you have an axis grenade on allies, you're gonna drop an allied grenade)

It still doesent work m8 not at all ive tried every thing recompiling it re downloading it every thing no one drops nades no where and nothing happens the only thing what works on thsi plugin is when some one dies it looks like there sprit is going to heaven with those little fire fly effects LMAO

P.s i can get a version of drop nades witch works on linux but it has missing code i did post the plugin here to see if anyone could fix it i even had ago myself " wasnt a good idea lol " but i have the non touched by me version so if anyone thinks they can fix it let me know ASAP.

The only thing that doesn't work for me is that it doesn't pick up grenades. Any idea why?
Are you hitting the USE button or simply running over the top of them ??

in what file are you putting this code ??
in amxx.cfg you do not need to "u" you simply need "dod_dropgrenades2" "1"
if you are trying to add this to a menu (cvars.ini) then you need a bit more "info" ...

ok well i got it wroking but only thing is when the grenades do fall on floor and the drop grenade does work but we cantpick them up i did the cvar to pick em up but it not working btw dis is what i put in with the othere cvars : "dod_dropgrenades2_use" "1"

i put the fx on 2 but no green volor round the grenades

this plugin dosent seem to have the effect you are looking for thsi one has the option to have like fire flys fly around the nade when its dropped or to have them look like a ammo crate i do know the old version of this has what you are looking for but it isnt on here you would be best looking at the amx forums for that one or ask who made this if they would incorporate that code for you

It's the same as the first dropgrenades plugin..I copied and pasted the code for the glow.

We have the same problem now. We have updated to AMXX 1.8.0 and I think this was the time where it starts.
Is there any probleme with AMXX 1.8??:confused:

If you have grenade catch in amxx turned on, when you pick up the enemys grenade it spams the "impressive" wave. why not just have the nade be one of you're own teams nades to avoid this ?

You might want to provide with some more information to get better help from the developers, coders and people with some knowledge about plugins.
A few things you could try adding to your post:
The plugins you are using besides this one, your amxmodx version, perhaps add debug to your plugins.ini and see if it forwards any errors.

To debug your plugins.ini you do as following:

It's cool dude/chick, thats what we are here for, to help each other.
Ok, the command you typed shouldn't be in your console. If you contact your gameserver through FTP (could be through a client like SmartFTP or by a web-based FTP connection from your gameserver host) you will have a bunch of files. Basicly what you want is to go ahead to this link (it shows directory path, so you will have to navigate it manually):
dod/addons/amxmodx/configs/plugins.ini
Now download plugins.ini to your desktop and open it with notepad/wordpad and go to the bottom of that file. At the bottom it will show you your plugins which you added to the default plugins.
Now just find dod_dropgrenades2.amxx and hit your spacebar once and type debug. Now save the file and upload it back to your gameserver (it will ask to replace the file, just say yes if you are sure these are the only changes made at this time).
Now restart the map and the server will try to see why this plugin is not working. Eventually it will show an error log in dod/addons/amxmodx/logs/ and it will be called something like: error_2008XXXX.log
If you are smart you either replace or delete the logs before changing the map so you exactly know which logfile the debug is in.
This is just a general explanation, to keep it rather simple. During coding it's all really watching on typo's and stuff like that. Typing player[32] and player[33] can cause a server to crash, to lag the server or make a plugin not work at all. Debug is a way which tells us that on certain lines in the coding there are some glitches/bugs.
Btw, if you type in console: amx_plugins (by typing amx_plugins 11/21/31/41 you will go to different pages, so first amx_plugins 11, to go to the next page, type amx_plugins 21).
If you type that command in your console (this is in-game, console) you will be able to see your list of plugins at the end. What does it say with dod_dropgrenades? Running? Bad Load? Unknown?

Like i said the plugins seem to work. Just cant pick up the nades.

Im sorry, it seems that I missed something. I feel pretty bad actually for letting you do all that stuff, I missed the part where you said it was already working.....(although what you did is usefull for later when a plugin isn't working and you want to know why)
So the plugin is working but you can't pick up nades. Only you or also others? Did the check the current amount of grenades you are carrying? Since Allies cant go over holding 3 grenades at one time and axis not over 5 grenades (dont ask my why :D).
If above is not the case (that you maxed the amount of nades you can carry) you should check on the other plugins. Basicly some plugins can block certain things in other plugins. Like WeaponsMod2.0 blocks every / command of plugins loaded after WeaponsMod2.0 in your plugins.ini file.
To make sure this is not the case, disable all your third party plugins except for the drop_grenades plugin. Restart the map and see if it works now. If it DOES work and you can pick up nades, then start enabling your other plugins one by one. So enable one, restart map and check if you can still pick up nades. Continue until you can't pick up nades anymore, it's most likely that the last plugin you enabled is causing a glitch with this plugin.
Also changing the order of your third party plugins sometimes help. If you really want to sort it out and you have a mic, we can go on Ventrilo and see if we can figure it out.

well i tried all that stuff tank. And The drop grenades mod wont at all with out the weponds mod.............so your guess is mine:o
I think ill try differnt drop nad plugin:(
