when posting a plugin , could the posters , be it a devloper or not.
could you assume that ( I know never assume ) that everyone is a noob and has no clue how to install said plugin.
and post the following in the original post.
What the cvars
what the commands are
where the cvars and commands go
and if there are any ( extra ) folders with it , say (items or models)
where that folder goes
I know I know , it sounds silly , but I have downloaded a few plugins and they come with extra folders ( one was called *images* ) and I have no clue where that folder goes.
I think it would help clean up a ton of posts that have gone on for 7-10 pages of people saying , "hey it doesnt work for me" "how" "what" "why" etc.
and it would save the new downloaders of the plugins from weeding through 7-10 pages of (how why what help ) to find the anwer they were looking for.
I know the info is included in most of the .sma files , but for some of us , reading them is like reading arabic , and it makes no sense.
thanks

Lol Good statement m8 but most people dont even read the post they just dl the sma file and go off the webby. I know this because i have people ask me over steam all the time how does this work how does that work and from what i can see most of the developers do put where to put things on almost all of the plugins on here but there is a random few that dont have every thing there. But reading a sma file to me is easy its just lines or text and 9/10 times what you need to know is at the very top of the sma document with the changes and bug fixes or the cvars. But thats just my opinion...

hmm...when I finally finish my plugins, writing the top part with all the info is the biggest pain in the ass.

I`m sure it is Wilson I`m sure it is.
but think of all the time you`ll save yourself in the end , when you don`t have read "why why why why " and 7 pages later , it turns out that , if they had put dod_<name>.amxx "1" instead of <name>.amxx "1" . like you told them to in the begining. :)
just a suggestion , because like I said , I had no clue what so ever where that "images" folder went in my server.
and with some .sma files , when I open them , the stuff is all strung together in 1 giant run on sentance , not on seperate lines , like in some. and trying to figure out where the [] seperates the []stuff[] is a huge pain in the hindparts.

i usually add the comments at the top of my plugins right from the start.. and as i add more stuff to the plugin i add to the top part after each one.. otherwise i'll end up leaving something out..
and with installing the plugin itself.. if someone doesnt know to put the filename.amxx whether it has a dod_ prefix or not.. imo.. thats their own problem lol.. im not hear to recite the basic amxx documentation that should have been read/checked first anyway..
and whats with the filename.amxx "1" ??? whats the 1 for lol.. sounds like YOU dont know what to do :P
..and with the comments all being on one line.. sometimes that happens if you open the sma file in notepad... as notepad doesnt handle the formatting where programs such as wordpad do so alot of the time notepad will make little boxes where the line breaks should be (sorta like how alot of *.nfo files are impossible to read in notepad lol)

I was only suggesting that you assume that everyone is a noob and doesnt know how to , etc.
Rather than assume that everyone has read and knows exactly what to do.
seems that if it takes 2 hours to type all the stuff into the .sma ,(that may or may not open correctly on any given pc ) that it would only take 5 seconds to copy and paste it into the thread to make everyones life just a little easyier, and save multiple posts by people who couldnt or didnt figure it out.
thats all.
I equate it to renting a server box , you get just that , a server with a dod folder in it....no instructions at all....just here ya go buddy enjoy.... and thats why there are 500 bajillion posts in their support areas.
forget I said anything , please feel free to delete this entire thread.
thanks
