Im sorry, not real sure what your problem is, but your sv_downloadurl can never be just http://dod/

This is your fast download url. Which means that any files that clients need to download will be downloaded faster from a webserver then your gameserver. So in order to allow people to download quicker,

1. set your sv_downloadurl to your webserver, for example: sv_downloadurl "http://chinese_server/fastdl/dod/"

2. On your webserver in the folder fastdl/dod/ you place all the files which are custom and needed to be downloaded by the client. For example a custom map, any files like the map overview, bsp file, sound files etc. are placed in the same order as in your dod folder, so sounds under sounds etc.

Hope this clears your problem a bit?

You are referring to pictures yet your screenshot shows an image of wav files, as in sound. So can you place a screenshot of those pictures you are talking about? These soundfiles are most likely coming from a plugin you enabled.

just for the sake of it, you are running a plugin, well lets call it plugin X. The plugin is placed inside plugins.ini. Plugin X has some sound files (wave files) along with it. To install these sound files you place them (for example) in sounds/misc.

Now on your fastdownload server you place them in the exact same folder as you placed them on your server. If the fastdownload path is placed in your server.cfg instead of taking the files from your gameserver, the client will download the files from your webserver.

Could this be a res file issue ?

if you want the client to download cusom content for a map then you need to include the file names in a mapname.res file as well as upload the cusom files to your fast download space.

I'm not sure any of us know exactly what he's trying to do, or what the situation is.

Let's try to explain it like this:

The URL (the website) that is indicated by "sv_downloadurl" is another server. This server is setup as a duplicate of the actual gameserver.

It does not exist automatically. You (usually) rent the additional server space and copy all your files (maps, sounds, textures, etc.) to that server.

You then specify the website or IP address on that line (sv_downloadurl ) in your server.cfg file.

Now, when people/players connect to the server and need to download all those non-standard (custom) maps, sounds, textures, models, overviews, etc. it will occur much faster for them. The reason (in part) is because the gameserver now is not working harder to do the additional task of downloading, but simply running the map.

Also, the gameserver's bandwidth is reduced for the time it takes to download the content because it is picked up by the other server (the fast download server which you specified under "sv_downloadurl").

I think he understands the whole aspect around a fast download server. I think the only problem is that a plugin was wanting to download sound files and he had no clue why or how to enable them (I think)
