I havn't seen that code ever, I wish we could use the code from any other bots to set something like that up - any information would be nice..rnrnI tried contacting them, but that thing hasnt been touched since 2004.. lolrnrnCya

Not sure what the heck happened to my post, so I'll try again...nnThe forums are still being monitored by ITX, Cervezas, and even Jasp occassionally posts there still. So your best bet would be to post on the forums there. I don't know how Jasp would react to someone wanting to tinker with his code, but he is pretty cool, and he hasn't done anything with it for a couple of years at least, so at the very least it wouldn't hurt to ask.nnhttp://www.xs4all.nl/~jasp/shrikebot/nnHaving said that, I happen to think the cpu usage for ShrikeBot is actually pretty good. Light years better than it ever was for SturmBot and it certainly has never been a problem on my clan's ratty old server.

if anyone could get ahold of him and see if he would like for me to help him, I would love to, shrikebot is going to cause me to lose my server if I don't turn it off because it spikes my CPU like mad, I can't afford that. I need to get ahold of that code or atleast have him release a more up to date version that isnt going to spike cpu usage.

I will try to get a hold of him for you, but are you sure it's ShrikeBot causing your problems? I've used ShrikeBot a lot, on a pretty old server, both Windows and Linux, and I've never had problems with cpu load or spikes in cpu load, and the chances of him releasing a new version are 0. He has been working on a bot for DOD:S but has hit a wall with that because an SDK hasn't been released.

I'll see if I can get in touch with Shrike tonight about that. CPU usage spikes could come from rebuilding the nav files on map load (usually only needs to be done once however). It could also spike a little when the bots join (although the code does this one a time to lessen cpu load) or possibly maybe when players join or part when using min/max and bot team balancing..... rnrnThe rig I used to compile/test on is a 500mhz P3 and it could run about 12 to 14 bots without getting laggy, 16 would push it up to around 70 to 90% usage... This was back on Fedora Core 3...

Actually I think there is a good chance you can get the source code, if you want to contribue to the project. Shrike is really cool, and at least when I offered to help track down some bug in Shrikebot 2.3.1 (if I remember correctly it was a crash "bogus message type" and womething with with weapons restrictions...) he was willing to share the code...nnActually, what I would LOVE to see would be Shrikebot:Source for DOD:S :)nnBut, unfortunately, my C skills are extremely poor. I am good at debugging stuff that I don't completely understand, but porting shrikebot to Source would be much too much for me ;)

I honestly highly doubt you'll ever see a bot for Source that doesn't come from Valve. There just isn't enough in the Source SDK to build a functional bot.

I have shrikebot running on a server with dual quad core AMD Opteron processors, and when the server has 15 people in it, the CPU usage is at 40-50%... With out shrikebot set as an .SO file in the command line, it runs at around 8-10% CPU with 15 people... Its running on Linux, so if there is a good tweak for it, then great. Let me know.. lolrnrnCya
