This might be a better question on the actuall amxx website, but I thought I would give it a shot here since there are many amxx users.rnrnAnyway, one of my rental clients is having a problem with amxx. He says that his admins can not execute any commands (kick, ban, etc) via the amxmodmenu on players that have a "*" in their playername. Has anyone else had this problem?

did they try using the same command without the menu? like kick using amx_kick and then typing the person's name?

Yeah...my initial impression was the flags set are incorrect. rnrnI believe the client said that commands executed on players using "*" in name don't work but they work on players without "*" in name. =
nrnFor instance:rnamx_kick fyrmn472 = worksrnamx_kick *fyrmn472* = doesn't workrnrnNot sure what the deal is. I was ask the client more questions to find out exactly when it's happening and when it isn't...

Not sure if this works or not, but try amx_kick %name%nnGive that a shot, sometimes that works as a wild card in most things, I didn't take the time to check honestly, but let me know if that works or not, if not I'll look into it for ya.nnEDIT: One of the other guys in my clan said to just try:namx_kick fyrnnHe said if you put the first few letters of the name, it will use the rest as wild card, if all else fails and you have someone you cannot kick because of invalid characters in their name, type status in your console, copy and paste their steam id and just do amx_kick with their steam id in quotes. That should work.nnCya

Thanks for all the input! rnrnThe version they are using is 1.76b. I understand there are other ways to kick someone and I have relayed that to the client. Their concern is if the"amxmodmenu" is accessible, they should be able to use it...

Here's their response to the server ticket:rnrn

Client replied to ticket on: March 22, 2007, 7:35 pmrnWe never used this command via the amxmodmenu. So, this problem has only observed using the standard amx_ functions. The different commands we tried were; amx_nick, amx_slay and amx_kick.
rnrnTheir users.ini looks like this (I changed Steam ID and playername for privacy):rn
"STEAM_ID" "" "abcdefghijklmnopqrstu" "ce" ;Clan Leaderrn"STEAM_ID" "" "abcdefghijklmnopqrstu" "ce" ;Member namern"STEAM_ID" "" "abcdefghijklmnopqrstu" "ce" ;Member namern"STEAM_ID" "" "cefij" "ce" ;Member namern"STEAM_ID" "" "cefij" "ce" ;Member namern"STEAM_ID" "" "cdefij" "ce" ;Member namern"STEAM_ID" "" "cefij" "ce" ;Member namern"STEAM_ID" "" "z" "ce" ;Member name
rnrnI'm still unsure who exactly is having this problem. More to come...

maybe it's the semicolon on the end, because the users.ini i use looks like this, and it works fine.:rnrn"STEAM_ID" "" "abcdfgiju" "ce" Namern"STEAM_ID "" "abcdfgiju" "ce" Namern"STEAM_ID" "" "abcdfgiju" "ce" Namern"STEAM_ID" "" "cdfgiju" "ce" Namern"STEAM_ID" "" "cdfgiju" "ce" Name

maybe it's the semicolon on the end, because the users.ini i use looks like this, and it works fine.:n n"STEAM_ID" "" "abcdfgiju" "ce" Namen"STEAM_ID "" "abcdfgiju" "ce" Namen"STEAM_ID" "" "abcdfgiju" "ce" Namen"STEAM_ID" "" "cdfgiju" "ce" Namen"STEAM_ID" "" "cdfgiju" "ce" Name
n nas long as the proper number of arguments are provided, everything else "after" makes no difference ... semicolon or not... n ni also never had a problem using the amxmodmenu to do anything to a client that was listed, regardless of the characters in their name... and as for doing the amx_ commands... as I said, I would suggest learning to use steamids... it is effective and I too have had issues trying to use a name in any command, but that could be a subtle character in their name that looks like one thing but is another, or some other issue... there just is no issue using the steam id.. the letters, numbers, underscore and colon all work flawlessly.. lol

You're right, the semicolon means nothing. I simply use it to comment out the playername part. I have used it for years and have no problem with it.rnrnI notice we're getting off track a bit. My questions was not how to execute an amx_command on someone in general, but rather their playername when an "*" was used. There is no arguement, that you can execute a command on a Steam ID, User ID, etc. rnrnI will let the client know they can give proper permission to their admins to run such commands from "amxmodmenu". That will solve their problem. rnrnThanks for all the input!!!

OMG I just looked at the users.ini for the access levels and it looks like they don't have access to "u" on the post you made a while back for the 5 at the bottom so would that be the problem? Seeing as they don't have access to the menu with "u" they won't be able to use that amx_kick command on the menu... Maybe I'm being stupid cause of me being sleepy :P

Yeah...you have to read all the posts. It wasn't via amxmodmenu. It was commands via console =
