from THIS thread on the amxx forumsnn
Alrighty, I have added a "-num_edicts <x>" command line option to the HL1 engine. Run the game with "-num_edicts 2048" to get more entities into a level. The maximum possible value depends on your specific mod code and memory constraints so feel free to play around with various values, just don't drop below 900. ... .n

I tried this on a map I've been working on, but it doesn't seem to help. Here is the error:nnL 04/23/2007 - 18:23:17: FATAL ERROR (shutting down): Host_Error: PF_precache_model_I: Model 'models/p_webley.mdl' failed to precache because the item count is over the 512 limit.nReduce the number of brush models and/or regular models in the map to correct this.nnHere is my command line:nnhlds_run -port 27015 -game dod +maxplayers 20 +map dod_warpath -restart +exec server.cfg -zone 4096 +ip 192.168.1.20 -autoupdate -num_edicts 2047nnAnyone have any luck with this or is my issue something different?nnThanks,nn-O-

The precache limit is something totally different than the entity limit.

probably need to make a plugin to test this..nni believe theres a native that returns how many total entites there are (maybe it was a stock... cant remember.. i used to have it but i just checked the plugin and i guess i overwrote the code with some other plugin by mistake lol).. so maybe use that and make something that will easily create entites.. and see how high you can go with and without using the cmd line argumentnn*edit*nnok maybe this from fakemeta: engfunc(EngFunc_NumberOfEntities)

also incase your not watching the thread on the amxx forums:nn
Just tried setting it to 1.nIt seems to reset to the safety limit so in CS's case is MAXPLAYERS * 15 + 900
