before anyone attacks me lol...id rather have a different company but...nngameserver.com is the BEST for the price. thats all im gonna say. Nuclear fallout is garbage and aint no dod server WORTH 130 dollars. I dont care how FAST it is. Stick to gameservers.com..i have been even though they did have a few major fuck ups in the past 2 yrs.

ya i have to agree lol.. ive been with gameservers for close to 2 years or so... i had some problems around when i 1st got my server.. but i havent really had a major problem (not including when the whole nj datacenter went down lol... a couple times.. heheh) for quite some time now.. just the occasional time when my ftp to the server is down.. and they usually get it up pretty quick.. but knowing a bunch of the admins via irc for over a year probably helps lol..nnanyway.. i dont really see myself leaving gameservers anytime soon.. server seems to be running quite good lately.. and i run quite a few plugins and it seems to be handling it just fine.. occasional crashes.. maybe once or twice a week that i notice.. but half the time i know its my fault.. cause id do something excessive with a plugin (like throw 5 smoke nades at once.. each second.. for like 20 seconds)nni dont really know where im going with this.. guess ill just say in the longrun gameservers has definitly been better then other hosts ive used.. :D

I also like the "clan-pay" feature. Helps when donations come around.

I was only asking cause they have fucked up with my server as in my number of slots and then they say I was violating it even though I downed it and then paid for the price that I downed it too but they kept shutting the server down and now they just don't wanna answer me with the whole server and website not able to restart the server or anything... It's rhe first BIG problem I've had with them but it's taken(So far) a week to actually have my server running properly

id say in 3 yrs ive had 5 major BIG problems with them including what diamond mentioned which was absolutely ridiculous..they decided to move shit without telling ppl and caused server to be down for like 3 days or more. but if this is ur first problem just be patient and learn that something cheap and good enough isnt always suppose to be the best.

I have had an enormous number of server providers... and the biggest main issue I found with most of them is that they really do NOT know the game, or the HL engine that well at all.. so when someone like me comes along they feel "offended" when I try to explain to them the errors of their ways...n nI have actually been banned from funservers.com website and services because of this...n ngameservers.com literally STOLE money from me, and then kept the "pooled" clan donations I had recieved (be careful with this one)n nI forget the name of this other company, but they advertised UNLIMITED storage space for the game server and map files, but the moment I went over 4 gigs they shut me off and discontinued my service (refunded my money though) but I wasted 3+ days doing uploads only to get shut off during .... (I have over 10+ gigs of game files for ALL my maps and shit...)n nI am currently on bloodservers.com, and the only thing I like with them is the price, but I am not a fan of charging for "debranding" ... but you get what you pay for.. I rent one of the cheapest servers, and it shows... poor registry, lackluster support (they are all idiots), server crowding (popular issue for alot of people)n nAt one point when we had 2 servers at once, one was with hitekgamehosting.com and the only complaint I had about them at the time was the stupid simply webpage they had for their services... rather simple and plain for a "company" who potentially makes a fistful of money renting servers... but the server performed well in the few months I had it ... we could just never justify the cost of the second server (barely got used) so we left it in favor of the Bloodservers one ... but I am already considering moving again to a new host....n n nBut I think we will all find over time... that the only way to get a really nice server is to PAY for it... or get our own dedicated server (much money) and go that route...n nIf I had the capital I would rent a few dedicated boxes and start my own service, I know a few here would help and that kind of "support" would beat out alot of the other providers out there... plus I would be strictly DoD as opposed to a multigaming service... but without the intial capital.. its only been a pipe dream of mine...n nspeaking of pipes, time to cut this novel short...

well i used to get charged more.. cause it used to be 1.99 a slot.. then after some bitching and whatnot.. i slowly got a couple slots down to 1.49, then a couple more slots another time down to 1.49, thats why my price perslot is kind of a wierd number

I had a big problem with the gameservers. The server had a lag issue, maybe because of some weather issues in the area. So we switched to NuclearFallout, which I never had a problem with. But because it's soo expensive, we switched to Steath Servers (I think it's called). So far, so good.

They kept me at 32 players but have been charging for 24 for several months now. I love game servers for this.

Actually, I have been waiting for my server to die off. When they do catch it, I am sure it will. rnrnI have done about everything I know how to breathe life back into my server, but to no avail. rnrnI havent made a payment personally in a few months, although server members have. The server is getting paid... just not by me anymore. Sometime soon it will die, I am sure of it.rnrnKind of sad to see it die, but I cant carry it anymore. Glad they are unknowingly cutting me a break lol.

I know this is an old thread but you can get a 32 slot dod server running on a 100Mb line with 200 sys_ticrate for $64 a month.rnrnI guess most of the GSP's out there only allow the default of 66 or 100 tic for 99% of their shared boxes. So unless your going to rent a dedicated box, You're pretty much stuck with 100 tic or lower huh.rnrnI know gameservers/clanservers.com will not allow more then 100 tic for any of their shared boxes which is why they are known for crappy hitreg.rnTheir 1.49 a slot deal was for 66 tic servers LAWL and then if you complained they raised it too 100. OMFG.rnrnJust rent a dedicated server their cheap at around $100 a month.rnYou should be able to run two 300 tic servers on a P4 3.2 gig with a gig of ram, No problem. with bots even.

well i have gameservers and i can definitly set my sys_ticrate (via rcon) to anything i want and server fps reflects the increase.. tho going too high, like 300+, the fps jumps around a bit more then id like.. one of my servers works best at 150-200 (im always playing with all my settings) and my other server that has less running i usually have 200-250nnn.. and to be honest, ive never once seen a server host that monitors or locks sys_ticrate settings on HL1 based games.. Some, tho quite rare, will use a linux kernel thats compiled to lock the rate the server will max out at, but the lowest ive seen is around 166 i thinknnand im pretty sure the default 66tick is source servers, as HL1 games default at 100 and ive never seen one that actually was set any lower.. tho if its a weak machine or is running too many servers or other crap it may only get like half of what its set for
