need some help started fast downloads thru urldownload, works great but some of the maps the sound wav takes forever is this normal. as in loading a song or whatever, just wondering the bsp and wav truck but you can get to some sounds that take minutes like 8 to 10 to download any help.

#1 An obvious question but...you do have the wav files on the fast downloads server, right?nn#2 If #1 is yes, then make sure your res files are complete on and uploaded to both the FD server and the game server.nn#3 If both of the above are complete, try browsing to http://yourfastdownloadsserver/sounds/file.wav and see if you can download it from there. Sometimes web hosts require you to enter the files as custom MIME types. This happened to me for wads, for example.

well all these items are covered i dont know what it is. i guess some things take longer i cant complain i guess. it used to take 20 to 30 min to download a map. just didnt know if anyone knew a trick i was missing

A complete song can take a while. rnrnAnd yes the .res only needs to be on the game server, telling the client to get custom content from the fast DL site.rnrnThe custom content needs to be on the game server, and the Fast DL site, in the exact same folder structure, with the .res reflecting the correct folder paths to the content in Fast DLs.

yep i think that is what is happening with the whole song, seems like anytime this happens you get into the map and hear all those italin songs and what not. guess it just comes with the territory. ty for the low down

It can alo be a rate problem, i had some problems with that too, but fixed the problem by adjusting the rates.
