I've really tried my best to figure all of this out without bothering anyone, and long story short I'm in need of some assistance. I have a gameservers hosted dod server with 20 player slots. I have AMX MOD X 1.8.2, and MetaMod 1.21.1 (on the gameservers website this shows as MetaMod 1.21.1-am. Not sure what the -am means). I use WinSCP to navigate the server directory. I have a variety of amx plugins installed (weapons mod, instant respawn, unlimited stamina, parachute and kill stats). This server is running 24/7 Avalanche.nnI'd like to have a maximum of 6 bots (3 on each team) that are replaced as soon as a real person joins a team. For example if there are 3+ real people on Axis, and 2 real people on Allies, you'd have 1 bot on Allies and none on Axis.nnI'm not interested in super intelligent bots, with waypoints for every map (as I said it's Avalanche only). I just want some AI bodies to attract people to the server. Something for them to have target practice while they wait for real people to join. I don't care if the bots walk around with bazookas - that's fine.nnThe #1 priority is just getting bots to work on the server without breaking my plugins. I've heard Shrikebot is doable. I've downloaded the Shrikebot 2.3.1 tar.gz file from the Shrikebot download page, and I'm ready to begin this whole process from the very beginning. So I figured I'd post here and ask the experienced ones how to do it. nnCan I please have some step by step instructions? I realize this is an old game, but I doubt I'll be the last person seeking help on this subject. It's difficult to try to piece together 10 different threads speaking vaguely on the matter, so it would be nice to have some thorough instructions. Most threads online aren't providing instructions as much as asking a specific question about one point in the process. In addition to receiving step by step instructions, I have some further specific questions that I'd like cleared up if possible:nn1. Can I use Shrikebot on my server while simultaneously running a variety of AMX plugins?n2. What are the do's and dont's of unzipping the shrikebot tar? Do I have to unzip the tar in the server or can I just unzip it onto my computer and then just move the files over to the server afterwards? Does it make no difference either way? n3. If I do have to unzip directly into the server then where exactly in this line do I unzip them? - This is what my server looks like: base directory/Dod/addons/MetaMod folder and amxmodx folder. For example when I unzip the tar it creates a folder called "Shrikebot_231". Inside that folder there are two folders - "dlls" and "shrikebot". Where exactly do these two folders go?nnPerhaps some of the above questions will be answered in the instructions, but getting answers around them may at least help me wrap my brain around the function of it all. I've learned a lot in the past week as I've been getting this server up and running - a task that seemed impossible, just broken up into a million smaller solvable problems.nnWhatever help is given by anyone is greatly appreciated! Shoutout to Fysiks who has already helped me with some other things - thank you for sticking around and checking in!

From further research and reading here is what I've determined I have to do(PLEASE SEE MY EDIT BELOW FIRST):nn[In the shrikebot_231 folder that I extract there are two folders - shrikebot and dll]n1. Inside the dll folder is a file called shrikebot_i386.so - this needs to go into /dod/dlls/n2. The shrikebot folder needs to go into /dodn3. Go into the autoexec.cfg (I forget where this is but I'm sure I can find it) and add the following line: nlocalinfo mm_gamedll shrikebot/dlls/shrikebot_i386.sonnAnd apparently that should successfully install Shrikebot on my server? If I'm missing a step in this please let me know. I've read elsewhere on forums something about having to create a config.ini file and add a couple lines of text - not sure if that's necessary for my situation or not..nnnThe final steps (assuming the above results in success) will be to make it so bots are automatically spawned upon map change/server restart. To my understanding this requires editing the shrikebot.cfg file.n4. Go into dod/shrikebot/shrikebot.cfg and add the following line: max_bots 6 (this makes it so that there will always be 6 bodies in the game; if a real person joins the server it will replace a bot. 6 real players = no bots.) QUESTION: Aren't I supposed to also include something like "minimum_bots 0" or something like that? Maybe not? I'll post back here if I find out.n5. In this shrikebot.cfg file you'll notice a list of # addbot lines (these are inputted as an example). If you remove the # from the front, then it tells the server to add that bot. You tell it which team, weapon class, skill level and name. So what I'm going to do is include the following lines in that shrikebot.cfg file:nnaddbot 1 2 2 "Ace Ventura"naddbot 1 3 2 "Truman Burbank"naddbot 1 4 2 "Stanley Ipkiss"naddbot 2 2 2 "Lloyd"naddbot 2 3 2 "Chip Douglas"naddbot 2 4 2 "Fletcher Reede"nnWhat I'm hoping is that this tells the server to spawn 6 bots (assuming there is no real human in the server) with various Jim Carrey character names. Three bots on team 1, three bots on team 2. I also chose their weapon class intentionally so they wouldn't pick rifle, sniper, MG or bazooka. The next number that shows 2 down the whole line is their skill level (I'll have to play around with this to figure out which is best). Finally, the desired name in quotations.nnEDIT - Hold on I think I just discovered a discrepancy in my instructions on steps 1-3. I notice that command line in step 3 shows "shrikebot/dlls/shrikebot_i386.so" However that's not the same location of the shrikebot_i386.so file in step 1. Could it be I was wrong from the start in thinking that I should remove the shrikebot folder from shrikebot_231 and place it into /dod? Should I place the entire shrikebot_231 folder into /dod instead? If that's the case, then maybe this is the correct way to go about it:nn1. Put the entire shrikebot_231 folder in /dod.n2. Go into dod/shrikebot_231/dlls and copy the shrikebot_231.so file. Paste this into dod/dlls. (is it necessary for this .so file to be in two different locations?)n3. Go into the autoexec.cfg (I forget where this is but I'm sure I can find it) and add the following line: nlocalinfo mm_gamedll shrikebot/dlls/shrikebot_i386.sonnHowever if step #3 is to be correct, then that would require me to change the name of the folder "shrikebot_231" to "shrikbot" in order for that line to function, right? That's the whole thing I'm confused about. I legit don't know what folders need to be where. And I'm afraid if I put it in the wrong spot it's going to break all of my AMX plugins.

You should be able to run both AMX Mod X and Shrikebot at the same time.rnrn
- rn
- Install AMX Mod X and test that it works.rn
- Put shrikebot_i386.so in /dod/dllsrn
- Put the "shrikebot" folder in /dod/ (such that shrikebot.cfg is at /dod/shrikebot/shrikebot.cfg)rn
- Create /dod/addons/metamod/config.ini and it should contain "gamedll dlls/shrikebot_i386.so"rn

Perfect, thanks Fysiks. I will give that a try later tonight and report back. So do I not need to mess around with autoexec.cfg?

IT WORKS! I did exactly as you mentioned and it totally works perfect! No broken plugins. Now I just have to figure out how to stop the bots from talking, which is on by default. I know I saw somewhere the command for that.nnThanks Fysiks! I'm going to edit my initial post with your instructions.

Is there any way to make it so bots show up as player count? I was hoping it would show up that way to attract players to the server. I have 4 bots in my server but the player count in the server browser still shows as 0. I know I see other servers pull it off somehow.

Basically, it is false advertising and many people were creating hundreds of server full of bots just to gather players into a single server (by redirecting them to a specific server; something else that Valve has actively added measures to prevent).
