If the wad is not downloaded when joining the server, you have to put the wad into the res file of the map to enforce the download.

How large is the wad file? nSome wad files are not wad files but empty cause the map don't actually use any of the textures from them. nHave u tried to open the file with wally? The file might be corrupt. If you have lots of maps try renaming the WAD file and downloading from another active server playing that map and copy that new file to your server.nnDoes you client crash with the error cant open wad blah blah blah or the server?nnHave you run resgen over your map directory to generate new .res files?nnor is it that the file won't dl from the server as the above people ask?

a lot of the new maps I am getting have the same problem can't open wad file I ran resgen over some of the maps and half the files are missing from them I just downloaded dod_eye_docs_b1 and at first I couldn't open the eye wad file because it wasn't in it also when I ran the res gen I'm missing glider jagd caen halflife and all the gfx files that go with it where can I find all the gfx files so I can actually put them in with the map and the other wad files are standard

Ok there are a lot of resgen options that output all sorts of things like missing wads an textures In the wad file. Pipe your output to a text file and post it here so we can see the errors. Some or the things resgen complains about wont matter some things crash the map. Options -o -m -g -u are helpfull but looong.nnSus out option -e as well. You might just need dummy .wad files If all the textures are there. But try find them first by Yahooing them otherwise you will be distributing a but file to someone who might need the real one for textures. A good example of missing textures is dod_cow when run with the above options you will see missing textures listed, run the map and you will see them as checkerboard pink and black.

Have you tried the command line options like I asked? Did you pipe it to a txt file and attach it like I asked? No?nnIf that was too hard you can try this :-nnNext go here there is a little box to generate a ,res file.nnhttp://www.17buddies.net/17b2/View/Map/71670/dod_eye_docs_b1.htmlnnNext copy and rename any .wad file to eye.wad I'm betting it wont matter as long as the wad file was a valid one to start with, try a small one so DL wont take long.nnLet us know if you see any checkerboard in-game. nnnI put my eye.wad in the resourses maps wad forum, I have no idea what it contains or is valid so no g'ts on fittness of use, use at you own risk.nnTa

Just came across this snippet from the read.me file in the Xash3d engine which fixes the problem their engine. I think the description puts the problem eloquently, dontyathink?rnrn"Xash3D fully ignore string "wad" in map , and not crashing,if one on more wads not found. In GoldSrc the situation was complicated by the fact, what engine required wads, dont verify, Do I need this map any of these textures. Ie was uncommon situation, when Half-Life require any wad, for this map just "random", Although he told her absolutely not required. Also has been added load textures from wads with help pfnLoadFileForMe on server, and COM_LoadFile on client. Just type the name of the textures in wad-file and the engine finds it from itself. You also may be type wishful wad in path, if want load texture from this file. Example: "gfx.wad/conback". "rnrnAhh those crazy Russians.
