umm i dont see any mod-specific code in it at all...nnit all seems pretty basic.. reads a file.. then checks the cached steamids with connecting players.. if they match it basically forces them to use a particular name.. nnshould work totally fine in dod

Yes I have the constant_names.ini in config folder and we are using it in three other mods we are hosting!rnrnHmm was I supposed to compile it with the some type dod includes then?rnrnIf so I just compiled it with the base code amxx 1.76d...rnrnIf that should still work either way it doesn't change anyones names and I tried moving the plugin up the plugin list to see if there was a plugin conflict...rnrnI had and have used it with amx 1.76d on my Brain Bread, Sven Co-op, RE Cold Blood, PVK_I and worked fine...rnrnI think it has something to do with the Teams maybe or player clases and yes I know nothing about what I am talking about!rnrnAnyways if you guys could please try it on a test server maybe and see and I have looked through it but have no idea what to look for...

it doesnt require any dod modules so the base amxx include files are fine..nnnwhat could be (and probably is) the problem.. it trys changing the players name right after they are put in the server... and in dod that means your basically in a state of being 'dead' and the name change wont take... and alot of times if you try and change your name thru setinfo (which is what this plugin does) at a point where your 'not allowed' to change your name.. the whole thing gets messed up cause the new name get put in the setinfo but doesnt change your actual name.. nni know someone on the amxx forums made a plugin that allowed you to change your name when you were dead.. running that as well might help...nnor it probably wouldnt be too hard to pull the code out of the putinserver foward function and have it delayed a bit (say like 20 or 30 seconds) and also add checks to make sure the player is alive (and if they are still dead.. loop thru it again.. etc..)nnnbut anyway.. thats probably very well the problem..

Yeah diamond-optic seems to have exactly what I had in mind just needed someone to fix that...rnrnI mean I suspected it was something to do with how the player or client joins that might be off setting the plugins ability to change the player/client names.rnrnSo basically the plugin needs some type delay and was also thinking there is a plugin here that renames people or checks for clan tags could that coding help with this plugin as well?rnrnI know the clan tag enforce plugin uses the user.ini but there must be something in that coding I can use that would help the constant_names plugin so it works for dod?rnrnClantag Enforcer rnhttps://www.dodplugins.net/forums/showthread.php?t=475rnrnBut that plugin is set to admins or user.ini and I need something for admins, clan members and recruits...rnrnI rather keep the names lists the same so I can keep using different ranks and the FTP multi uploader to all the mods with same constant_names.ini file...

change client_putinserver to client_connect and you should be able to change names then... otherwise what diamond said is most likely the case... a players name can't be changed "normally" when a player is in a "dead" staten nI run a plugin that looks for "naughty" words in a players name as they connect and change it if it contains any number of bad words...n n nAnd... this is twice now in one day that someone found a plugin for the "ideas" I have been working ... making life ALOT easier for me .. HAHA

Back to the drawing board I guess...rnrnI tried that no worky...rnrnI am sad now maybe you or someone else might have another solution?rnrnWell I am not sad just interested in fixing it...rnrnIf only I knew a coder personally maybe he might help me but the one guy I know is way to busy to help me for some odd reason...rnrnGot to love it when someone you know really well can fix this up and he is way to busy!rnrnWell if anyone comes up with a solution I'll be checking here every so often and trying to pretend I am a coder and see if I can fix it myself without burning down the house! :)

try changing ...n n

set_user_info(id,"name",names[id])
n n
 nclient_cmd(id,"name ^"%s^"",names[id])n
n nOther then that, I can not see any reason in the code why it wouldn't rewrtie a players name...

Nope that didn't work either...rnrnI guess it requires a lot of extra fancy coding to work...rnrnThanks so much for you're help...rnrnI'll have to hire someone to fix it for me I guess. :)

n noh DUH... you know what I just thought of...n ntry changing client_putinserver to client_authorized ... the issue may be.. that in either of the other two cases a player can still join the server while awaiting steamid verification... and running a "check" on a players ID during this time will come up negative... client_authorized is fired as soon as a players ID becomes known to the server.. and since the whole routine relies on checking a steam id against ones in a list... this might work for you..

bailopan once told me that it goes:nnclient_connect (connection initialized) > client_authorized (steamid verified/auth'd) > client_putinserver (client actually put in the game aka motd window pops up..)nnand i thought steam had fixed the steam_id_pending bug and clients can no longer actually 'get in' the server while they have steam_id_pending.. at least i dont think ive once seen a connected player still having steam_id_pending..

Its not just steamid_pending (or even unknown) sometimes it just takes a few moments to actually "get" the ID to display...n nIt would just make sense that any plugin that is going to use a STEAM ID would use client_authorized .. since that is fired when an ID is "acquired"

So this plugin uses the constant_names.ini, Is there any plugin that will just prevent any player except for admins from ever changing their name once the client has joined a server/team. And also without the use of any .ini or txt file. I just want to prevent any non admin from changing their name once their on my server. man am i tired of having to look in my console for name changers. good idea here.
