Been trying to get one working myself. It appears the bots won't work without changes to there offsets. The dod servers I've seen still running bots have not been updated and are still running metamod 1.19.

Hi meathead, if I can manage to install dod on a virtual linux I will have a look to see if we can get something running. I have not setup a server for a long time and it looks like steam have changed the install (steamcmd I think) just need to get it working for dod. rnrnGuest12rnrnI doubt any of us have ever tried what you are asking, I assume you are using linux as your operating system and using steam for linux ? most of us will have been running windows operating system with bots running on windows or linux server or on the local windows machine not the local linux machine.

No it can be done. He is using a windows machine, and wants to launch a windows listen server. Which is easy, and you can find out online how to. The trouble comes down to this. You need the metamod version for listen servers, I have been trying to remember what its called and where it is, however I haven't been having much luck. Once he has that, he just installs everything the same as you would do for a regular server just under his game account. Then runs the game via a command line that activates the listenserver and starts the game.nnIf I can find out the link/name of that version of metamod....grrr...nCheers!nnOk I found the name of it, cl_metamod, however its been YEARS since I have seen it about. So if ANYONE can find a full copy please msg me with the location and I will put it on the forums as part of the collection of resources.nnCheers!

Sorry Zor I thought he said steam Linux native in his first post. So I was assuming that he wanted to run dod client and bots on home pc using linux.

My fault noddy, never noticed that part. However, still inconsequential. Only 2 ways he can do it, no mater the platform. 1 = Listenserver, and you HAVE to use cl_metamod. 2 = Create a server as per any other, make it a LAN server, and then connect via the game on the desktop (Lin/Win).rnrnSo to guest, I would suggest the easiest way to create a server with bots on, and with linux is to wait out for the offsets to get fixed, or set up a server with an older version of amxmodx on it. One that the offsets do not need to be fixed. For that you need to follow this:rnrnMetamod:rnhttp://wiki.amxmodx.org/Installing_AMX_Mod_X_ManuallyrnrnAnd Bots:rnhttp://www.dodbits.com/dods/index.php/half-life-1-games/60-sturmbot-versions-and-downloadsrnrnSee what you can do on your own, you never actually LEARN anything having others do it for you. Those will lead you in the correct direction, when you get stuck we will gladly give you some pointers and help as best we can. However we won't do it for you!rnrnGood Luck! Ask specifics and we can help.

Noddy, the way dod starts now, it strips the i386 off of everything so I have tried renaming to shrikebot.so. The lblist.gam also has another line specifying the .dylib. Not sure what to do with that, so just left it at metamod.dylib. I know lots of the offsets have changed also. So my guess is without the uncompiled code, nothing we can do. Have not seen any bots running on any of the new metamods.

Thanks Noddy. I finally installed the correct version of shrikebot, left the lblist alone,(duh), with the correct config.ini and get a new mem dump crash error.nHave only found 1 linux server running amx1.82 and shrikebot, but it's somehow got mm1.19p running.nnhttp://www.game-monitor.com/dod_GameServer/153.19.129.17:27068/PL_DoDArena.pl_NEW_IP_Coustom_Maps_FFA.html

Unfortunately, the Shrikebots addon no longer appears to be compatible (as of the latest Steam Update).rnrnThe addon has also not been updated for almost 9 years.rnrnDue to that, it cannot be used.rnrnThat is what I was told by my Game server host. They are wrong.rnrnI have a fresh install post update server running Shrike bot Version 2.3.1. with the Shrike bot binary patch, AMXMODX Version 1.8.1.3746, Metamod Version 1.2. I removed the _i386 from the shrikebot_i386.so file name.. It has been running for a week with out a problem. rnrnserver IP 8.6.77.132:27015rnrn<AAC>loon_on_a_stick*ServerOp*

I did not try it with mm1.21p37 I used mm1.20, mm1.20 is the newest Metamod release Feb 16, 2013. The amxmodx is on old release from the amxmodx installer.rnrnJust tried it with mm1.21-am and seems to be working.rnrn<AAC>loon_on_a_stick*ServerOp*

I think the original question would be best answered that the linux client did not exist when sturmbot was put together so a local server (client) version probably wasnt developed and above sugestions wont work. If you want to waypoint in your client your option is windows only. You can also play against your bots locally -no internet requred.nnafter following install guides either:nnx:Steamsteam.exe -applaunch 30 -dll sturmbotdllsSTURM_bot.dllnnornn"C:Program FilesSteamSteamAppsUSER_NAMEDay of DefeatHL.exe" -dll SturmBotDLLsSturm_Bot.dllnnFor linux:nnnnIf you are linux only then download a linux dedicated server and install linux stumbot using the guides (dont use the server downloaded in the tools library of your client) and then join it locally though your linux client to play against your bots on the same machine or network it should show up in the LAN section, sadly you might have to open up the standard HL firewall ports for this. You dont need metamod (or metamod -sp, unless you need amxmodx too, metamod-sp never worked as far as I could tell). The benifit here is if you have mulitle cores it should be faster and if you have mutiple screens you can have the server open too to add your bots etc.nnn./hlds_run -game dod -port 27016 +maxplayers 10 +map dod_caen +localinfo mm_gamedll sturmbot/dlls/sturmbot-i486.sonn** the above commands will be different based on your installed directories or .dll or .so versions.nnnn*********************************************************************************nFor those who were following the above threads metamod-p should be your preffered metmod to use as it handeles changes in the .dll and .so over time without need for updating so offsets etc are irrelevant. nnhttp://metamod-p.sourceforge.net/
