rnI'm trying to work out how to have more map options when i do a map vote via the amxmodmenu.
rn
rnAt the moment it will only let me select a maximum of 4 maps in a vote. I would like to increase to 6 or maybe 8
rn
rnIs it possible to make it more, and if so how

Inside the source file, mapchooser.sma found in addonsamxmodxscripting, edit the line to the amount you would like:n#define SELECTMAPS 5nnCompile and upload to your server. XD

Also, if you'd like more map voting control for you and your players, I'd suggest Deagle's Map Manager.nhttp://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=627nnThere is a also modified one picked up by someone else but I remember having issues with it. Though it appears that it has been updated since I last used it in late 06 and may work just fine now.nhttp://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=59535

I've done that, waited for the server to change to a new map then tried it, but can still only select 4 mapsrnrnOr do i have to restart server for it to take effect

Map change should have done the trick. I'll run a check here on my home server and see what I come up with, perhaps there is something more that needs to be done.

OK, the issue actually lies in mapsmenu.sma, not sure what I was thinking earlier and will take some work to modify. What I'll do is just write up a refined plugin that will let you modify things easier. I really don't care for the mess they have going on in their plugin. XD

OK, all done. I did some testing but nothing extensive. Everything appears to work correctly.rnrnSyn's Simple Map Menu v1.000rnrnThis is a simple map vote plugin made to fill a user request. It is designed to give admins more map choices than the default AMXMODX plugin.rnrn===========================rnNotesrn===========================rn- Don't run this with the stock mapsmenu plugin! It's designed to drop in place of it and uses the same client commands amx_votemapmenu and amx_mapmenu for access. This can be easily changed if desired.rn- Automatically integrates in amxmodmenu for the vote map option and change level option.rn- Uses the maps.ini or mapcycle.txt the same way as normal. If you are going to use the normal mapcycle.txt, be sure to DELETE the maps.ini inside the amxmodx/configs folder because it will load that and skip mapcycle.txt if it exists. Another solution is to copy and paste the maps from your mapcycle.txt into the maps.ini.rn- This plugin doesn't exactly mirror the default AMXMODX so don't expect it to look or behave exactly the same.rn- Will handle up to 64 entries from maps.ini or mapcycle.txt, which ever you are using.rn- You can throw up 64 maps to vote for if available but it's best to only vote a small handful.rn- For a map to win, it must receive the highest votes. Votes ending with maps at a draw will result in a forfeited vote and no map change will occur.

Got a problem, must be doing something wrong, probably me being a dopernrn You say don't use with original mapsmenu plugin and drop this in it's place, rnrn so i took that out and put your file first in the same place as the mapsmenu.amxx file was in, and it didn't work, rnrn and then in the scripting folder with the other sma files, but both times the map changer menu and vote menu's are then greyed out and don't work either wayrnrnI deleted the 2 forward slashes in the line for max maps to look like thisrnrnnew max_maps = 6 // How many maps max you want to allow in a voternrnso assume i've done that right, what am i doing wrong ?????rnrnrnthanks Gary

Did you just put the .sma file in the scripting folder? If so, that is why. You need to take the compiled version .amxx and put it in /dod/addons/amxmodx/plugins. The path may be different depending on your install though but the ultimate location will be amxmodx/plugins.nnAs for the dropping in place, what that means is to open the plugins.ini and comment out mapsmenu.amxx and enter this plugin in the list somewhere. So to comment the default plugin out, your entry would look like:nn;mapsmenu.amxxnnThen on another line, pref under the ;Custom plugins section, enternsyns_simple_map_menu_1.000.amxxnnThe max_maps variable is defunct, it was going to be used let you specify a max but I ended up not coding it that way. The plugin as is will just put up as many for vote as you select from the menu.nnSame thing for map_vote_started. It was not needed since I went the route of making the vote menu client's see only be activated from the admin menu.

Odd, it should fire right up. Out of curiosity, what version of amxmodx are you running? Also, I take it the choices in amxmodmenu are white correct? What happens when you issue the commands directly such as amx_votemapmenu in the console? You will need to bind it to a key (bind x amx_votemapmenu) etc.. since having the console up causes menus to not show.nnOh and are you getting any error logs in amxmodx/logs?

Well i've got 2 servers the public which is running the latest 1.8.1rnAnd i've got a private war server which is running 1.76d and that's the one i'm testing it on before putting on the publicrnrnDo you think that may be the problem, I have a key bound for map vote but didn't try that, have taken the files out, so maybe i should put them back in an have a try, and yes the menu comes up in whiternrnnot sure if i've had any error logsrnrnWas going to update the server to the latest version amx to match the public but havn't got round to it yet, but if that's the problem then i'll do it asap

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I tested this on a 1.8.1 server so perhaps they may have changed something with the menu system. If the menu comes up in white what happens when you select a map or does it even show after that point?

Sorry for my delay in replyingrnrnHave now updated the private server to amxx 1.8.1 to match the public serverrnrnHave compiled the sma file to get amx file, have put that in plugin folder, have put the original sma file in scripting folder, then commented out the mapsmenu.amxx in the plugins.ini, and put in the name of the new plugin.rnrnwhen i select the amx menu, it comes up in white on the left as normal, but if i select either mapvote or map change, the menu disappears as if i've exited out of menurnrni've tried it with sma file in scripting folder and with it outrnrndo i have to take out mapmenu.sma, or leave that inrnrnIf it's working on your system, i'm sure i may have made a silly mistake somewhere, just can't figure out wherernrnthanks for your help and patiencernrnGary
