lol im big on live music.. nnso i have TONS of lossless live shows.. got copies of every show/festival ive been too except like 2 or 3.. tons of phish & trey anastasio.. as well as a lot of early grateful dead (early as in 65-69) and just tons of other assorted shows.. and being lossless formats (flac, shorten...) a single show can easily be over a gig..nnnbut i also have tons of other crap.. probably one of the most extensive psychedelic material collections around lmao.. soooo many hard to find videos, audio, etc and shit

well the hard drive is definitly dying...nnwhat shit lol, spent days copying all the files BACK over to it after reformatting it.. nnnow its acting up again.. takes 4 or 5 bootups till it even gets recognized.. it randomly stops working after I finally get the damn thing to even work at all... and when it does work.. reading or writing to it.. it will slow down.. stutter a few times.. and then work fine for a minute before stuttering again.. its especially noticable running music, or video files .. or playing games.. then the same files are totally smooth when running them off the other drive.. nnran chkdsk overnight (took forever.. idk.. it ran for about 5 or 6 hours before i went to bed and it was only 33% on step 4, and it was 20% about 3 or 4 hours earliar lol) and it found a ton of problems.. and of course its attempt at fixing the problems is just deleting the data in those sectors and telling me that not only do the errors still exist, but that it has also deleted some of my files..nnso i bought a 500gb drive today.. nnonly problem is its a SATA drive and my pc needs IDE or whatever.. and of course not a single store around here has any adaptors in stock.. so i had to order one online.. which means i wont be able to do anything for like a week probably.. nnso ya.. cya in a few years :P

just great....n n nmore f'n bullshit..n n nhad to reformat my primary drive today.. :(
n nstarting to remind me of a buddy of mine... HE is currently reinstalling Windows, for the 10th time this year... atleast with you the "issue" or cause isn't the same as his.... he simply cant get enough pr0n...n nquestions: which drives are now new and which are still "old" .. I know you mentioned replacing one already... but if a drive up and causes problems like it is now... Don't spend so much time reformatting it and repopulating it... only to possibly have to do it again in a few weeks... how old is the drive... some HD manufacturers are now warrantying drives for 3 years... atleast Maxtor is still doing it.... n n nMind you, I am only the guy on the outside who knows very little of the exact causes and problems you are facing... so forgive my ideas or suggestions if they were tried or not applicable..n nIDK though, it sucks to have to hear others having "odd" issues and having to constantly reformat their drives.. I DO know how tediously long of a process that can be, especially the pre- and post- data transfers to salvage what you can... Here is hoping for the best for you ... :o

well everything seems to be running good now...nni think the main reason i to reformat my primary (the 500gb drive i just got is my secondary drive...) was because something got all messed up at some point during the 100 lockups before i replaced the hard drive cable.. nnso hopefully.. if i can make it a week with no more problems i just might be all set hehheennntho i still need to figure out why my modem goes on a infinite reboot loop when i turn windows firewall off

n nyeah that still buggers me too, and leaves me a bit "scared" seeing as I can not quickly find any information about that on the net...

Ya I hate when a drive goes corrupt (Friend of mine has a terrabyte worth of drives on his ftp server and I think one 300gb drive just went dead) OR even when memory go bad for that sakes. Had a whole gig of ram that just went dead with 1000's of errors, using memtest 86..dam generic cheap sticks. In my advanced linux class back in college we bought 32 generic 1gb sticks of ram and only like 9 worked lol teacher was soo pissed on the schools budget he said he would end his contract or less they replaced all the computers with decent ram so we could do what we needed to do on our linux boxes. They did :)rnrnAhh phish or widespread panic brings me back to some wild concerts...use to go to phoenix and have the time of our lives

Nice...guess if you have the time and money you can mirror your drives LOL...think we are using a Raid 2 at work, pretty small.
